Apparently the original Tyrian purple colour dyes were extracted from a
mollusk found on the shores of the city of Tyre in ancient Phoenicia. Purple
became a symbol of royalty because only the very wealthy could afford
it. Luckily times have changed and you can buy garments in the widest
